History of Jeff. Co. by Western Historical Co. 1879: In Dec., 1836, Capt. Robert Masters made a claim on the Rock River. On Jan. 4th of 1937, he came back to his claim with his son Eugene, John Jones & a hired hand & erected a shanty which was finished & a fire kindled on the night of the 2nd day. On the 7th, he went back to Bark River & brought his 2 boys & daughter Evaline, who was the first white woman to settle in Jeff. | ||
