History of Jeff. Co. by Western Historical Co. 1879: Sawyer purchased an an additional interest & on 6/27/1851, the dam was partially carried away by high water, which was rebuilt soon after by Wadsworth Hurlburt & Wing, who with Sawyer owned the property jointly until 3/13/1852 when Wing purchased Sawyer's interest, & on Dec. 31 following, sold 7/16th of his estate to Dwight Hillyer & Orrin Henry, who held title until 11/1/1854 when the latter disposed of his interest to his partner, & within a year, Wing sold the balance of his interest to John Seifert, who now owned it with Wadsworth & Hurlburt & Hillyer. In 1857, Hillyer disposed of his interest to Charles Stoppenbach, who with Joh Seifert & Wadsworth & Hurlburt were props. until 1864, when David Johnson purchased the latters shares for $10,000. |
