1854-01-12     Plan to build a new bridge across the Crawfish River on the direct road to Madison near the Yellow Tavern owned by W Torry.
1854-01-12     Greenwood Cemetery lots about to be sold: The Greenwood Cemetery Ass., will be ready, in a week or 10 days, to dispose of burying lots to our citizens, & those in the vicinity who wish to purchase. A plot of the ground, & dimensions of each lot, can be found at the office of Messers. Holmes & Weymouth.
1854-01-12     Died: Daniel Tuttle, 1/1/1854, 57, in Jeff.
1854-01-19     P Clark, Sawmill, West side of river.
1854-02-23     James Wadsworth arrived from El Dorado after an absence of 2 or 3 years.
1854-03-02     New store, Currier, groceries, Main St.
1854-03-02     R J Currier opens a new store on Main St.
1854-03-09     Jeffersonian to erect a printing office & dwelling house attached & purchased an eligible site in the center of the village contiguous to the Court House, hotel, etc.
1854-04-13     First Fair in Fort Atkinson last year, 2nd Fair will also be at Fort.
1854-04-27     The Drug & Variety Store of J Manville was forcibly entered Monday night by cutting out 4 panes of glass in the door sash & forcing open the desk & escaped with a box of money $100. They left the box in the St near Mr Barrs store. A pocket book which they also took was found on the Crawfish bridge. Then they went to Mr Meyers Hotel & burglariously entered & took 7c & a coffee pot. Then entered another tavern kept by Mr Groover and found a watch & $8. They wound up in the dwelling house of Mr Whipple. This was the first burglary in Jeff.
1854-04-27     John Buchta, a German, fatal accident, killed by prying up the old bldg to be moved to make way for the new Jeffersonian office.
1854-05-04     Pliny T Clark was badly injured at the saw mill on the West side of the river.
1854-05-04     Burglaries: Deputy Register C Stoppenbachs office, Co Clerks office, Mr Wheelers wagon shop, & the cellar of Manvilles drug & Variety store.
1854-05-04     The mill dam at Johnson's Creek was ordered a nuisance & ordered to be removed.
