The overseer informs us that there are now 10 paupers in the Poor House, 9 of whom are almost entirely helpless, either suffering from the many ills that flesh is heir to, or to enfeebled by old age to take care of themselves. |

The Superintendents of the Co poor decided to employ the 'medical attendant' for the paupers, that could be had for the least pay, & they accordingly knocked it down to the lowest bidder. The lucky one was Dr S Marks, who receives the sum of $75 for the years attendance. |

A daily mail stage has commenced making daily trips from Jeff to Whitewater. |

Some of our citizens are endeavoring to raise by subscription a sum sufficient to open a road running from Jeff directly West to the Crawfish River, which will be bridged at that point the road reaches. Estimated cost is $1,500. |
