On Thurs of last week, the lot & bldg formerly occupied by the National Bank of Jeff was sold by Adam Grimm to the Jeff Co Bank for $4,500. Immediately after the signing of the deed, the removal of the bank was made the next day. This settles the question of a new marble front bank bldg for the present at least. |

Another old Settler Gone: Died, S Mills, one of the early settlers of this village is no more. "Old Saw Mill" he was called. He settled upon the East bank of the Rock River some 40-60 rods above the junction with the Crawfish at a very early day. Never married. Always had a helping hand with new settlers. His rooms were frequented by fishermen & bathers. A few years after he came, his brother came who settled upon the opposite bank about where the Woolen Mill now stands. He passed away several years ago. |
