Died: Nicholas Jung drowned in the Menominee River in Milwaukee. He came into Jeff in an early day & engaged in the mercantile business on Racine St, near the corner of Main St. Their store & residence was formerly a low 1 1/2 story frame bldg, but after years that gave way to a fine 2 story brick bldg. A few years later & at the time Bruenigs Hall was built, they put up the store adjoining them, which is now occupied by Martin Meyer as a flour & feed store. A few years ago, Jung's declining health compelled him to retire from active business and his two stores were sold to P McAtee, since deceased. Soon after, Mr Jung moved to Milwaukee. |

The board refused to grant Mr Kroner a liquor license. Mr Kroner had rented the bldg on Racine St owned by Mr Wagoner & fitted it all up, when lo & behold, no license. Now let the board consider annulling 2 or 3 of the licenses already granted. We suggest to start with the saloon known as the "Sharp Corner" kept by C J Weiss. |
