1902-01-02     Died: Mrs. Henry O Nevins, 12/27/1901, 43, typhoid pneumonia. Born Sarah Jane McAdams, in Jeff., 1/29/1858. Moved to Aztalan with her parents when a small child. On 3/5/1878, married Henry O. Nevins. Four years ago, they removed to Jeff. Leaves a husband, 5 children, Petula, Willie, Maude, Leo & Raymond; an aged mother, 3 sisters (Mrs. Geo. Reinhardt, of Jeff.), & 4 brothers. Catholic Church & Cemetery.
1902-01-02     Chas. Schaffarszick left for Montana where he accepted a position in a drug store.
1902-01-02     The OC Vaughn Co. received a new 50 hp engine from Clark Engine Co., of Kalamazoo, Mich., the old one being too small.
1902-01-09     Fred "Fritz" Yahn was badly assaulted by Frank Bauer, who had been working at Heger's Brewery the past few days, & attacked him with a knife. (Long article on the happenings).
1902-01-09     Died: Wm. P. Forsyth, 12/27/1901, at his home in Pasadena, Calif., apoplexy. He was a former Jeff. resident, serving here as postmaster & cashier at the Jeff. Co. Bank. He left Jeff. for Calif. in 1886.

1902-01-23     Frank Richards & John M Bienfang have bought the creamery owned by Ed Arndt at Oakland.
1902-01-23     The Lutheran congregation at Helenville let the contract for their new $6,000 church. It is rumored that Geo. Crist, of Jeff., has it.
1902-01-23     RE: Margaret R Doubleday to Edward Suchomil, 9 98/100 acres, sec 10, City of Jeff., $998.
1902-01-23     Edward Suckomil has purchased a 10 acre tract from Silas Doubleday for $1,000.
